War stance won't damage ties: NZ prime minister says

New Zealand says Australia's support for a possible war with Iraq won't damage trans-Tasmanrelations.

New Zealand Prime Minister HELEN CLARK has reaffirmed her country's preference fora diplomatic solution to the Iraq crisis.

But she says the difference of opinion won't be allowed to affect bilateral relations.

Ms CLARK says she's discussed her position with Australian Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD,who'll travel to New Zealand for further talks in the next two to three weeks.

Ms CLARK is in Sydney to address the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions'8th International Women's Conference.

She's used her speech to call on all countries, including Australia, to ratify theKyoto protocol on greenhouse gas emissions as New Zealand has done.
