NSW: One biker dead, 50 injured after F3 pile up

SYDNEY, Dec 12 AAP - A commemorative motorcycle ride turned to tragedy today with one biker
killed and more than 50 injured in a pile-up that has closed the F3 freeway in both
directions.

The accident near the Cobbs Road overpass just north of Tuggerah on the New South Wales
central coast closed the freeway in both directions.

Two rescue helicopters are on their way to the scene where an ambulance spokesman confirmed
two bikers have spinal injuries, two others head injuries and four have severe multiple
injuries.

A police spokesman said northbound traffic had been diverted on to Cobbs Road while
southbound traffic had been diverted on to Sparks Road at Warnervale.

"I would advise anyone who is planning to travel on the F3 to delay their trip at least for
a few hours."

More than 15,000 motorcyclists were on a ride from Berowra to Raymond Terrace to
commemorate the 25th anniversary of the cult biker movie: Stone.

The cause of the accident was not known.
